Irrigation Service Technician – Griffith

Riverina Water Engineering (RWE) is seeking an Irrigation Service Technician based in our Griffith branch. The successful applicant will undertake the installation and repair of commercial irrigation systems using our Project Scheduling and Quality Management programs.

Duties include:
• Carry out installation and service work for irrigation systems and pumps.
• Diagnose and repair on farm systems.
• Diagnose and repair of pump station components.
• Diagnose and repair of automation controllers.
• Diagnose and repair on pipelines.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic valves and pilots.
• Repair pumps of all sizes.
• Installation of irrigation system components both above and below ground.
• Complete accurate, timely job sheets for all works undertaken ensuring all labour, materials, plant, and consumables are recorded.
• Carry out/assist with manufacturing tasks including pumps/butt welding/general welding and fabrication.
• Carry out/assist with service works including pipe, filter & pump repairs, breakdowns, and system diagnosis.
• Ensure all tools, plant and equipment are stored, maintained, and serviced in accordance with manufacturers specifications and RWE requirements.
• Liaise with customers, clients and head contractors during irrigation works.
• Work with customers to promote system maintenance programmes.
• Assist with treatment of irrigation systems with acid/chlorine.
• Operate machinery required to install or repair irrigation systems including excavators.
• Undertake appropriate training where need is identified and maintain certifications.
• Maintain the Service Departments required stock list and order necessary replacement parts.
• Other work tasks as required or delegated in line with this job role.

Skills and experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with the installation of irrigation systems.
• Practical knowledge of Irrigation/Pumping/Plumbing methods.
• Ability to follow plans, organise resources and deliver quality customer service.
• Verification of Competency for earthmoving and trenching machinery.
• Confined spaces, forklift and working at heights licenses would be advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, trouble shoot and evaluate irrigation installation.
• Proven ability to complete irrigation projects using initiative and solution-oriented ideas.
